ZURA WAFIR: ARCHIPELAGO IN ANONYMITY
ZURA WAFIR’s series of stunning macro-photographs explore the landscapes of her home in the Maldives.
Taken from artwork created with resin and acrylic paint on canvas, Wafir’s macro-photographic series entitled Archipelago in Anonymity is at once abstract and beautifully reminiscent of Maldivian seascapes: ‘I’ve lived abroad almost my whole life, so a lot of my art is reflective of home and its physical landscape.’
Featured in our recent Free Speech print edition, the series coincides with rising fears surrounding issues of censorship in the Maldives, following recently passed laws criminalising defamation.
