A selection of poems by PATRICK BRACELLI

i

She is the
Only one who
Keeps my eyes
Locked with
Hers.

And when they
Are, the only
Thing I want
Is to throw away
The key.

ii

When I closed my
eyes
I saw your face
an inch away
from mine.

The cocoons in
my stomach opened
and,
for the first time
in a long time,
I felt the flap
flap of the
butterflies’ wings.

I don’t even know
if it was
real.

iii

I’ll gladly

Accept
The randomness

The indifference

The uncaring
Beauty.

I can wait.

iv

Seventeen geishas
Frozen in time,
At a black tie event,
Hearts covered in brine.

Admired as statues,
Dead eyes, no smile;
Their frozen-cold sadness
Our souls will beguile.

 v

we cover our faces with masks and strange paint

we dress up in costumes that make you feel faint

our grins they will chill you right down to the bone

we’re coming to get you when you’re all alone

Musing

I wonder

If there’s a reason
I’m awake.

I wonder
If I’m slowly
Fading away.

I wonder
If the light will
Guide me.

I wonder
If you’ll be here
When I fade back.

Insomnia

She has
A curious way
Of showing up.
Some would say
Unexpectedly,
Others, maybe
Would hint at
Cruel Irony.
