A poem by ROBYN MOFFAT.
Fragile nights—
usually out of sight,
I glance back.
I was a bystander
watching the diminishing light—
you were motionless and emotionless.
Tears absent in our goodbyes.
Depression dries you up.
Stationed in world afraid of your fight,
invisible to a hurried eye—
hollowed.
A system exists; what system?
Growing like a wave—
it heightens and then falls.
I loved you with distance
but you understood best.
“To heal is in time
so allow it.”
Waves become
smaller
and you are stronger.
They are always,
always impermanent.
Importance is in being there
during the calm and storm.
We all require growth—
it just takes many forms.
