Introducing ‘Falling in Time’, the latest single from VIOLETS.
Fusing anthemic, ethereal melodies with rich electronics and sensitive, dubbed guitars, VIOLETS are a dynamic alt-pop 3 piece.
Pippa, Aaron and Rob met through school and, after making music separately for a while, set up VIOLETS at the start of 2016. Since then they’ve shot to success with a show at The Great Escape festival and recent support slots for, amongst others, Basement Jaxx, Tsar B and White Kite. With a string of sell out London headline slots under their belt, VIOLETS promise to be ones to watch for 2018.
Their latest single ‘Falling in Time’ is available here:
The track is certainly a more mature composition than previous singles, combining precise, delayed guitar blends with crisp vocals and a splendid array of synth pads and electronic drums. ‘Falling In Time’ nods, musically, to the likes of prodigious new talents Fickle Friends, with elements of more established acts such as The XX, Florence and The Machine and Sylvian Esso. Guitarist/keyboardist, Aaron Miller, talked me through the song:
‘This track was written after spending a summer with some amazing people – it’s about a place where you can be wherever you want to be, a parallel to the real world; a place full of dreamers and their dreams. We changed our approach to writing on this song and it was a really freeing, powerful experience and something that has really benefitted our music; it’s fun and energetic and meaningful. It’s about the feeling of living in the moment – a carelessness that is rare and something we wanted to capture. A feeling that we all share.’
When pushed for information of next year’s plans, VIOLETS kept their cards close to their chests. However, with a sound and image so well polished and contemporary, we can expect great things to come.
