Jazz music in London is no new phenomenon. Think Camden jazz bars, Ronnie Scott’s and the UCLU Jazz Society. But there is one event that is on quite a different scale. Running from 13–22 November, the EFG London Jazz Festival is city-wide, with concerts in venues ranging from Cadogan Hall to Rich Mix. There are more alternative events, too, with a ‘Jazz Skate’ taking place at Somerset House. The festival is well established, having been running for over twenty years, and this year there are some 2,000 artists performing in a huge array of gigs. What’s not to like? Even better, some of the events are free – try the Barbican Freestage, for example. This festival is sure to suit anyone’s music taste or style of concert. It’s going to be impressive. You can check out all that the festival has to offer here: http://www.efglondonjazzfestival.org.uk/. And watch this space for reviews.
